Fundraising
Help Us Keep the Doors Open
In order to keep the library open, we need to raise funds. Gateshead Council provide the books we loan out, and give us tech support, but we are responsible for all bills, such as utilities, stationery, cleaning.
If you would like to donate to the library, then you can do so in a number of ways:
Book Sales
When you visit the library you will see the donated books for sale, and we are very grateful to the people who give us these. We regularly bring the books outside on Saturday mornings in order to ensure that shoppers in the village have the opportunity to buy as they pass.
Be Sponsored
On occasion we have members of the community or volunteers offer to do sponsored events, such as the Great North Run, and most recently the Borders Abbeys Way, on our behalf, and these offers are very gratefully received.
Come to our Events!
We have twice yearly fairs, at Easter and at Christmas. These are always well-attended and well received. We look forward to our fairs, since they bring the community in to fill the library space with busy-ness and good humour.
We also have annual fundraisers. In 2026 this will be a fun-packed Quiz Night, held at The Glebe Sports and Social Club.
